Residents' Forum Chair, Board Member and Tenant - Teresa McDonough - has been named Diversity Champion for Northern Ireland at the prestigious Equality and Diversity Awards at the Titanic Centre in Belfast.
Teresa has been a disability advocate for over thirty years, working tirelessly and selflessly to enhance the lives of others in her community and beyond. As a carer of adult children with disabilities and having a disability herself, Teresa has been a campaigner in a sphere of life with which she is fully experienced. In addition to her staggeringly impressive involvement in causes and groups across the region, she also manages to find the time to act as Resident Representative of Habinteg’s Inch View housing development, Chairperson of the Residents Forum, and member of Habinteg’s Housing Management Committee and Board.
Receiving the award from TV’s Sarah Travers at a Gala Ceremony on 23 April, Teresa delivered a moving tribute to Habinteg and message of thanks which was met with a spontaneous and emotional standing ovation.
For more than three decades, Teresa has been, and continues to be, a beacon of hope for not only those with a disability but for the community as a whole and is truly deserving of the title of Diversity Champion.
