25th November 2017
On Friday 24 November 2017, Habinteg Housing Association hosted a celebratory lunch reception at the Skainos Centre in Belfast to mark the association’s 40th Anniversary.
Attended by staff and board both past and present as well as friends and colleagues from across the housing movement, the lunch was the culmination of a year-long series of events to celebrate Habinteg’s four decades of housing provision in Northern Ireland.
Throughout 2017, Habinteg has been marking its anniversary with regular scheme-based events, led by the association’s residential staff and newly appointed regional community involvement officers, and celebratory activities for staff members, including Celebration Day and Anniversary Away Day.
The reception at Skainos gave the opportunity for those outside the organisation to join with Habinteg in looking back over 40 years, with a personal view of former chief executive David Duly and looking forward too, with current chief executive Darren McKinney setting out the association’s future vision in the keynote speech.
With memorabilia from Habinteg’s history on display to spur the memories, the speeches were the only punctuation to the afternoon’s conversation. A good time with good food was had by all and glasses raised to the next 40 years.
