Housing

We plan, develop and manage affordable housing in urban and rural areas, throughout Northern Ireland as well as working with a number of partner organisations in providing supported housing projects.

Our central aim of providing housing which combines a range of dwelling types - family houses, apartments and bungalows - in order to appropriately meet the needs of the widest range of users, including older persons and persons with a disability. Our housing schemes include large and medium sized suburban developments, inner city apartments, individual rural cottages and specialised housing schemes. Partnership projects include sensitively designed housing with care schemes, temporary accommodation for people who are homeless, and housing initiatives for people with additional support needs.

Community Assistant service
An important element of our housing management is the provision of residential staff members (Community Assistants, Scheme Supervisors or Concierges) on many of our schemes. Residential staff members provide a liaison between tenants / residents and our main offices and can assist with reporting repairs, helping with community issues, sign-posting to services and helping to promote a community spirit.

Residential staff members are also available to offer assistance (in addition to care provided by Health and Social Care Trusts) for more vulnerable tenants - older persons or persons with a disability. Wheelchair user housing and housing designed for older tenants may be linked to the Community Assistant’s home and office by a warden call system to assist in the event of any emergency calls. The warden call system is also linked to Fold Telecare service to provide cover when the Community Assistant is off duty.
