Organisation
Habinteg Housing Association (Ulster) Ltd has been established since 1976 and is registered within the provisions of the 1976, 1981 and 1992 Housing Orders (NI) and under the Industrial and Provident Societies Acts (NI) 1969 and 1976.
The Association is funded by grants and loans from the Department for Social Development and by private funding. The loans are repaid and management services financed from the rental income. Some rent levels are approved by the Department for Social Development, and are in line with those charged by the Northern Ireland Housing Executive. Decontrolled rents are set by the Association under its rent setting policy.
Habinteg has two offices - a head office in Holywood, County Down and a North West Regional office in Londonderry. Currently over 70 staff members are employed by the Association, most are based in the two offices, with a number working residentially on housing schemes across Northern Ireland. The work of the Association is guided by a voluntary, dedicated and professional Board of Management (details of personnel can be accessed in the Annual Report on the Publications page).
Habinteg is a member of the Habinteg family of housing Associations with sister organisations in England, Scotland and the Republic of Ireland.
